Can Street Dancers change the routine between rounds?

from Derek (Denmark)

Derek’s question: Regarding Hip Hop, I cannot find any reference in the rules that dancers and teams have to perform the SAME routine from one round to another. If that’s the case, do organizers and/or choreographers have to use the SAME music from one round to another?

Bill’s answer: You are touching an often discussed topic. Since this is not addressed in our rules book, changing a routine is permitted.
In the past we have always accepted changes to choreography and/or music in the Performing Arts. In Street Dance, solo dancers improvise a lot to the specific music they are dancing to. It seems rather difficult to monitor changes in a hip hop or disco routines. In any case: As long it is not in the rule book, it is permitted.
